Premier League on Boxing Day

We all appreciate that football players, especially in the Premier League, should have a deserved rest and family time for the festive season. Top clubs who are still involved in the Champions League and Europa League will certainly find it even more demanding. It is quite common for clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United to be playing a competitive match every three days, which is very demanding especially when faced with Away games.

However, to be without football for entire week has its downsides. One would imagine that this would be the perfect time to catch up  on all the unplayed podcasts, you tube videos, transfer news and football gossip; but this cannot quench the thirst for competitive play and the drama of the Premier League.

Anyways, all that we can do right now is to look forward to action on Boxing Day Monday, and as a result, here is a list of games to be played:

Watford vs Crystal Palace – 12:30

Arsenal vs West Brom – 15:00

Burnley vs Middlesbrough – 15:00

Chelsea vs Bournemouth – 15:00

Leicester vs Everton – 15:00

Manchester United vs Sunderland – 15:00

Who can challenge Chelsea for the PL title

It is confirmed that Chelsea will be at the top of the Premier League table with 43 points over the Christmas holidays. This was after their record breaking 11th successive win in the Premier League, which should please all Chelsea fans all over the world!

The manager Antonio Conte did admit that their position in the table would have come as a ‘surprise’ to most folks in the football world, and it was now for them to keep on surprising their fans. Although, Conte did state this was not going to be an easy feat, all of the best betting sites all agree that it is a near certainty that Roman Abramovich’s team will take the Premier League title at the end of the season.

It has not been all plain sailing for The Blues, as everyone thought the return of the ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho would bring about continued success and record breaking achievements. However, after winning the Premier League 2014/2015 title with three games to spare, it all went sour and a poor run of results and form, and resulted in Mourinho being sacked on the 17 December 2015. The caretaker manager appointed by Abramovich was Guus Hiddink, who met the club positioned 16th place in the Premier Table. Hiddink was able to rally the players and get them on a 12 match run without a loss, which inevitably helped the club to finish the season in 10th place.

Antonio Conte was appointed manager in July 2016, and the Italian has managed to exceed all expectations with Chelsea 6 points ahead of second place Liverpool, 7 points ahead of third place Manchester City and 9 points ahead of fourth place Arsenal.

Currently, Chelsea Football Club is odds-on favourites to win the League, priced at 4/5 at BetWay. These guys, and other selected reputable online bookmakers are welcoming all new players with generous free bet offers, so why not take advantage of the opportunity and place your bets on The Blues to be the title holders at the end of the season. Alternatively, it maybe that one believes that the new year will bring about a few shock results and bring other title contenders like Manchester City or Liverpool in a favourable position to spoil Conte’s first season in charge.

So don’t delay, get involved now and enter the exciting world of the Premier League and sports betting!

Arsenal needs a new Gunner

sports betting

So far this season, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal have managed to keep ahead of the pack and stay top of the English Premier League after 20 games, with 45 points – one more than Manchester City and two more than Chelsea.  However, Highbury’s faithful together with any sports betting fan that has staked cash on the North London winning the League title will certainly feel that Wenger needs to look for at least one more striker during the January transfer window. The growing consensus is that with the injuries to both Olivier Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner, it only leaves one recognised striker in the squad – and this then necessitates the purchase of at least more striker to help ensure the club press on for their first English Premier League title in almost ten long dreary years.

Wenger has already ruled former Manchester United and now Fulham striker, Dimitar Berbatov. It is rumoured that Wenger does not like the ‘relaxed’ style of play of the Bulgarian striker. This means means anyone betting on possible purchases can focus on other potential candidates. There is the Spanish international Michu who currently plays for Swansea City. Arsene has stated that the player reminds him of a Dennis Bergkamp, which is a huge compliment to any player!

There is of course the stories that Monaco’s hitman, Radamel Falcao is looking for a move away from French club. His scoring record is second to none, but there is a huge price tag of 60 million euro which Arsenal will have to weigh up. Someone that maybe more affordable and still bring in the goals, could be Jay Rodriguez playing at Southampton, and there is the possibility of even luring his team-mate Lallana to increase the probability of Jay settling in quickly.

Wenger can also consider Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata. Although it has been reported the Arsenal manager was not keen on the striker, it maybe time to revisit this option. If the reports and rumours are right, Wenger has already secured Morata’s services on a six month loan deal, however, this is yet to be confirmed by the club.

Whatever decision is made, one thing is for certain, the English Premier League title race has never been more exciting, with so many clubs in with a real chance of winning the title and all the glory that comes with it!

Real Madrid Mesut Ozil signs for Arsenal

betting online

Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have agreed terms with Real Madrid for the German midfielder Mesut Ozil, a deal worth a club record breaking £42.4m! It is by far the biggest deal The Gunners have ever done, as the London club’s highest spend so far was a measly £15m in 2009 for Andrey Arshavin. It finally proves to supporters of the club that Wenger and the Board are serious in their quest of trophies and titles. Anyone betting online with bet365 will be pleased to see Arsenal 5/6 To Finish In The Top 4, and there is another market on how many goals Ozil will be scoring for his first season in the English Premier League.

The signing has got to be one of the best this summer, as Ozil was one of Real Madrid’s key players whose creativity and passing ability will be sorely missed, especially by the great Cristian Ronaldo. The Portuguese striker, along with several other Real Madrid players like Sergio Ramos made their feelings known on how shocked and disappointed they were to learn of the German midfielder being sold. Ronaldo has a genuine right to be upset, as Ozil set up in excess of 20 goals for him, and in fact the couple have worked together to produce more goals than any other strike duo since 2000 in La Liga.

Arsenal and Wenger have tried to bring other high profile players to the club, most notably Luis Suarez and Higuain, but were unsuccessful. But Wenger would have gone a long way in proving that he is not content with fourth place in the Premier League and is ready to take on the big teams like Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea. Ozil is proven class and quality, the German player should be a perfect fit to a squad that is all about passing and creative football.

The Premier League is even more competitive that it ever was, with the stakes ever increasing. I hope that Ozil is just the start of the type of proven and talented players that Wenger will employ to bring the North London back to it’s glory days!

Jose Mourinho at home in the English Premier League

online betting

Out of all the new managerial appointments in the English Premier League this season, one of the most popular and influential has got to be Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho. The Premier League, and for that matter, Chelsea, have never really been the same when he decided to part ways with the club in September 2007. The ‘chosen one’ then went off to Italy  and got his second Champions League trophy at Inter Milan in 2010, and then joined Spain’s Real Madrid where he won the La Liga in 2012, nine points ahead of rivals Barcelona. Online betting operator bet365 have already made Chelsea joint favourites with Manchester City to win the EPL priced at 9/4, which reflects the ‘Mourinho Factor’ and pushes Manchester United into third spot at 11/4 to retain the title.

Jose has already admitted that his first game at Stamford Bridge against Hull City on Sunday will be an emotional return. The manager has already been quoted as saying he is back where he belongs and with him having ‘experiences in three other countries’, he has come to the conclusion that England is his ‘favourite country to work in’. Mourinho seems to have rediscovered his passion for the game, that was really coming apart in the last months in Spain. He is now talking about giving ‘everything for his club and the Premier League’.

Personally, like so many others in the football world, I believe Jose Mourinho is one of the best things to happen to the English Premier League. There are very few managers that have the charm, charisma and the ability to influence a game as much as he can, and this is the reason why Chelsea are joint favourites to win the title this season. Wayne Rooney would have probably made them all out favourites to take the title, but it seems as if this move is unlikely to happen.

The opening weekend of the Premier League is one of the most interesting for quite some time, with all the top teams in action, and everyone looking to see how they all perform when the dust settles. David Moyes is already moaning about the fixtures, so whoever manages to shine in the first week, should be able to build pressure on others and emphasize the ever increasing competitiveness of this league.

Manchester City sack Mancini

Roberto Mancini

On Monday night 13th May, the announcement that every sports betting fan was expecting finally came through, Manchester City confirmed that Roberto Mancini has been sacked after three and half years in charge. The date is unfortunate as the 13th May 2012 was the exact day that City enjoyed their finest ever moment to claim the English Premier League title for the first time in 44 years. The official word is that the club’s targets were simply not met and as as a result the manager had to go. However, Sheikh Mansour was quick to thank Roberto for his commitment and accomplishments during his tenture at the club and also stated he wished to remain friends with the Italian.

This year has been disappointing, there is no disputing that fact, and one would have thought that the owners are well within their right to expect more than losing to Wigan in the FA Cup as the highlight to a season, with some much money spent on the acquisition of players. But some point not only to the lack of titles and trophies, but to Roberto mancini’s confrontational style of management. There have been many examples of this, and all of them very public, like dealing with Tevez, Mario Balotelli, and Joe Hart.

The Italian seemed to accept his fate and said that we have to expect these types of decisions in football. The next interesting part of the saga will be who Manchester City appoint as Mancini’s replacement, and how long that term will last.

All sports betting leads to the Manchester Derby

On Sunday we will witness another Manchester derby. This game will probably be one of the most significant encounters of the English  Premier League season. There are a few reason for this view, both clubs are top fo the table with Manchester United top, with City in close second. There is also the fact that Manchester City has now settled into being a top club and (apart from the Champions League) have started to handle the pressure of being at the top. This means the derby should be a worthwhile match between the two clubs, and if the last two encounters is anything to go by, it will be very eventual. Sports betting punters will be counting the minutes to the game, as it will prove not only a great time to place bets before the game, but in-play betting will be a crucial time to make soem extra cash!

It must be noted that both teams have their problems and have not been playing to their full potential. Manchester City failed to qualify for the knock out stages of the Champions League competition, and did so badly that the club did not even qualify for the Europa League! In the Premier League they have also been floundering and for the last few games have been struggling to score goals drawing against Everton and Chelsea. Hopefully, David Silva will be available after a hamstring injury, with James Milner and Clichy waiting to get back into the first team.

Manchester United has been struggling to keep clean sheets all throughout the season, with Sir Alex Ferguson worried about the amount of defensive errors that are occurring on a regular basis. Vidic might be able to make a surprise return, but the Red Devils will have to keep their concentration in order to take the pressure off their formidable attacking force. It is here that one maybe able to see an advantage, as where as City’s attack is finding it hard to score, Man United’s Rooney, Van Persie and others have a great strike record.

Whatever the result it is sure to be a great game, with me just hoping Manchester United’s experience stays strong in the end!

Manchester United win at Stamford Bridge

Manchester United beat a nine man Chelsea team at Stamford Bridge. The game was not only about great football, but it was filled with no end of incident and controversy. Sports betting fans comfortable with ‘betting in running’ would have been busy from start to finish in this clash between two of the top teams in the English Premier League. Manchester United went ahead in the fourth minute with an own goal by Luiz, the score line quickly doubled with a goal by Robin Van Persie in the twelfth minute. The game saw two Chelsea players being sent off, Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres.

But even with the loss of two players, Chelsea still managed to score two goals to bring the score level at 2-2. Sir Alex Ferguson substituted Cleverley and stuck on Hernandez in the sixty fifth minute, and the gamble paid off with young Mexican scoring the winning goal ten minutes later. The game was marred with allegations by Chelsea that the referee Mark Clattenburg used ‘inappropriate language’ to two of their players and an investigation into missiles being thrown onto the pitch when Man United scored the winning goal.

The win sees The Red Devils keep the pressure on Chelsea at the top of the table, as Sir Alex Ferguson’s team in second spot only one point behind The Blues. Manchester City are level on points with United, but are third in the table with an inferior goal difference tally. The season is now seeing the English Premier League table being spilt into three main sections, but with the Christmas period coming up should reveal some surprises which online betting fans should have a chance to make some quick cash!

Arsenal earn a well deserved point at the Etihad Stadium

Manchester City was lucky to get a draw at home against the Arsenal. Manchester City struggled against an Arsenal team that looked the business. The Gunners gave the English Premier League a stern warning that even with Robin van Persie going to Manchester United, the North London club is still a force to reckon with! The Away supporters even had the audacity  to tease the City faithful when Koscielny scored a late equaliser.

Against the run of play Manchester City went ahead 5 minutes before the end of the first half with a Joleon Lescott header. However, Wenger’s team should real guts and determination to keep probing and searching for that equaliser that eventually came just inside ten minutes before the final whistle.

It was quite noticeable that Mancini was not his usual confident self, and would have quite pleased to get the point to continue their unbeaten home record to 32 matches starting December 2010. In fact, City could have lost it as a last minute shot from Gervinho, but it was not to be.

Online betting operators would have been pleased with the result, as a draw always means that bookmakers get to keep most of the punters’ cash. The draw means that Manchester City slips down to seventh place while Arsenal climb to fifth the Premier League table. But with both teams maintaining their unbeaten starts to this season, we all know there is still more to come!
