West Ham shock Tottenham Hot Spurs

online sports betting

West Ham did the unthinkable and beat Tottenham Hot Spurs at White Hart Lane to get out of the bottom of the English Premier League. It was a great win for the Hammers against one of the best defences in the League this year, and it also marked the first away goals scored by West Ham for the season. Online sports betting operators wold have enjoyed the result, as Spurs were favourites to see off the challenge from one of their London rivals.

It was also a day to remember for the young Ravel Morrison, the 20 year old former Manchester United player produced a strong performance and was rewarded with a great goal. Finally it looks as if the talented young man is getting his career in order and after a good show in the England Under-21 squad last week, it seems that the West Ham player is ready to move up to the next level and prove to everyone that he has what it takes to be one of the best.

Spurs had a frustrating time in front of goal, as usual. Villas-Boas’ team has only managed to score six times this season, and the point was underlined when looking at Defoe’s chances and near misses. Defoe is usually one of the best strikers in front of goal and for the first time this season he started a game, one would have thought it was just a matter of time when he was on the scoresheet. But, unfortunately, it was not to be.

West Ham manager, Sam Allardyce will hope the club can build on their first away win in nine league games which places them 13th in the table. There have been many examples where one epic win has inspired teams on winning runs that set them for the entire season, here’s hoping this is one of them!

Injured Defoe brings on Spurs woe

It has been confirmed that Tottenham Hot Spurs striker Jermain Defoe will be out of the game for up to three weeks on account of an ankle ligament damage. The England striker got the injury on Sunday, when Spurs won at West Brom. It is a heavy blow for the North London club, as Spurs manager, Andre Villas-Boas will have no choice but to completely rely the services of Emmanuel Adebayor. Online betting operator Bet 365 have Spurs favourite at 8/13 to win at home against Newcastle on Saturday, but I am that sure.

Spurs are somewhat fortunate that Togo (Adebayor’s National Team) have been knocked out of the African tournament and in so doing have freed the player from International duties. AVB will have to play Emmanuel, even though the 28 year old had to take time after leaving the tournament complaining of exhaustion. The player should grasp this opportunity with both hands and make it his time to shine. Since joining Spurs on loan, Adebayor has not shown his full potential. The player has made 14 appearances in the English Premier in Spurs colours and only scored twice.

The fans and manager will be hoping that Defoe can come back strong and Adebayor can use the time to score goals and gain confidence to make a potent partnership with Defoe. Tottenham are now one point behind Chelsea and AVB will now have his sights firmly set on finishing in the three, but they will need to hold their nerve and stay the course.
